The name Womandla is a combination of Women and Amandla, Xhosa and Zulu, for power/strength.
The fist that you see in the logo is a symbol of unity, strength and fighting the good fight.
Womandla.com was founded by Sam Gqomo, a South African marketing exec, whose career and experience propelled her to use her skills in equipping, uplifting and informing the community.
Womandla.com is a platform which profiles leading and upcoming women in the business, arts, IT, finance, social sectors. The blog shares career and educational opportunities for women (both nationally and globally) and also uplifts and encourages women by use of songs, poetry and personal stories.
With the help of contributors, the blog also advises on healthcare, careers and relationships. The aim of Womandla is to build a global online network of women and thus form mentorship/ mentee relationships and educate girls by raising funds for their university and college tuition.
We are registered as a Non-Profit Organisation, Womandla Foundation, and plan to form partnerships with leading organizations and institutions for a Womandla Travel Bursary, Womandla Scholarship of the Arts and Womandla Leadership Programme.
