The name Womandla is a combination of Women and Amandla, Xhosa and Zulu, for power/strength.
The fist that you see in the logo is a symbol of unity, strength and fighting the good fight.
It also reminds me of a story in the bible where God asks Moses what he has in his hand and petitions him to use it. Once Moses got over his insecurities he began to lead and do great things with the little that he had been dealt.
Womandla.com is a blog which profiles leading and upcoming women in the business, arts, IT, finance, social sectors. The blog shares career and educational opportunities for women (both nationally and globally) and also uplifts and encourages women by use of songs, poetry and personal stories.
With the help of contributors, the blog also advises on healthcare, careers and relationships. The aim of Womandla is to build a global online network of women and thus form mentorship/ mentee relationships and educate girls by raising funds for their university and college tuition.
In the near future, we’d like to secure funding to register the platform as a Non-Profit Organisation and form partnerships with leading colleges and universities for a Womandla Travel Bursary, Womandla Scholarship of the Arts and Womandla Leadership Programme.
