Our Head of STEAM was invited as a the guest of honour by the YAWIC (Young African Women in Computing). YAWIC is the group formed by the Head of the Department of Computer Science at Nelson Mandela University to empower the young women in Computing Sciences and equip them with knowledge they need for their careers. These girls have gone on to start empowering young girls. She spoke to the ladies about challenges she encounters as a woman in IT, how to approach interviews and a bit of how to survive your first job and the increasing importance of EQ (Emotional Intelligence) skills.
